Care worker
What is the role?
The job involves working with a variety of different people – including adults with learning difficulties, physical disabilities, dementia and other mental health conditions – in all aspects of their daily life.
This could take place in care homes, people’s own homes or in the community.
What might it involve?
- Supporting people in social and physical activities
- Booking appointments and accompanying people to them
- Assisting with personal care, e.g. showering and dressing
- Assisting people with eating and drinking
- Monitoring individuals’ conditions by taking their temperature, pulse, respiration and weight
- Possibly helping with medication
